Frequently Asked Questions


(1)       I would like to receive education in Gendarmerie and Coast Guard Academy (GCGA), What Should I do?

Individual applications for international students are not accepted. International students should consult to their Gendarmerie and Coast Guard institutions. In order to receive education and training from GCGA, there need to be an agreement/contract between your country and Turkey.

(2)       Can you give detailed information about the education/training system in GCGA?

            The mission of GCGA is to train and educate officers and NCOs required by Gendarmerie General Command and Coast Guard Command with modern educational methods and in accordance with the duty requirements. All the requirements of students (accommodation, food, dressing etc.) are met by the State. Candidates of officers receive 4 years of academic education following the prep class and candidates of NCOs receive 2 years of academic education.

*          Candidates of officers will receive education and training;

- For (4) years in the faculty following the prep class,

- For (2) years in Officers Education and Training Centre as Gendarmerie services branch,

- For (1) years in Officers Education and Training Centre as Coast Guard branch.       

* Candidates of NCO’s will receive education and training;

- For (2) years in Vocational Higher School,

- For (1) year in NCO Education and Training Centre.

*          * Graduates of the faculty will be granted with;

            - Bachelor’s diploma for security sciences and public management and Officer’s Diploma if they are successful in the qualification exam for the Gendarmerie services branch,

            - Bachelor’s diploma for shipping and management engineering and Officer’s Diploma if they are successful in the qualification exam for the Coast Guard services branch.

* Graduates of Vocational Higher School will be granted with;

- Associate degree diploma for Security Services and Noncommissioned Officer’s Diploma if they are successful in the qualification exam for the Gendarmerie services branch,

- Associate degree diploma shipping and management engineering and Noncommissioned Officer’s Diploma if they are successful in the qualification exam for the Coast Guard services branch.

 

(3)       How does an academic day go on in GCGA?

            A day starts at 6’oclock in GCGA. The academic and policing courses start after the breakfast.  After the academic courses the students can do exercises, join training club activities and team activities in the sports branches. At the weekend, the students can go out of campus with permission.

(4)       Where is GCGA?

            GCGA is in the capital of Turkey, Ankara. You can find detailed information in the contacts section in the web page of Academy.

(5)       What kind of opportunities are there in the GCGA Campus?

            JSGA there are dormitories, classrooms, facilities, military training fields, shooting polygons, many synthetic pitches, sports facilities, stadium, library, cardio saloons, swimming pools, tennis and basketball courts and football fields. All those facilities and opportunities are offered to the use of representatives of future, students. 

 

(6)       What variety of foods in GCGA?

            Turkish cuisine is one of the most enriched in the world with  thousands of dishes and desserts. The best picks from the Turkish Cuisine are offered to the students within three meal a day. The meals offered to the international students are same as the ones Turkish students have. Religious belief and food sensibilities are specially taken care of in the preparation of the food. 

 

(7)       Do I have to wear uniform?

            Yes, you do. You wear the same uniform as the Turkish students wear. International students carry their flags and badges on their arms.

 

(8)       Are we going to be allowed to have free time in weekend?

            Yes the weekends and national holidays are off days for the students. The international students can go to their countries in the midterm holidays. In addition to that, international students can celebrate their important days and festivals in GCGA.

 

(9)       What are the documents that we need to bring together while coming to Turkey for course or training?

            If you have earlier been in Turkey, your accommodation register will be needed.

(10)     How am I going to reach GCGA when I come to Turkey?

            Initially, you need to provide the flight details of your journey to the Turkish Military attaché in your country which is important for us to plan your meeting in the airport.

The international students are welcomed in the airport by a liaison personnel and they are sent of to their countries following their graduation.  

            If the students enter into Turkey from a different city other than ANKARA, we provide the necessary assistance for them to come to GCGA.

 

(11)     Can I Bring my family together with me during my staying in Turkey for training or education?

            The terms and conditions under which the international students bring their families together are defined in the agreements and protocols signed between two countries.

(12)     How are the Health services going to be regulated for me and my family during my staying in Turkey?

            The terms and conditions under are regulated within the agreements and protocols signed between two countries and according to the regarding national lawsuit.

 

(13)     Where am I going to accommodate in Turkey during my staying for the purpose of education and training?

            The accommodation in the military facilities is provided for the international students by the related unit command which provides the training or education, following the coordination between the commandership in control. The international students are assisted by the unit command to find hotel, apart house for rent if requested.

 

(14)     What is the language of education and training in Turkey?

               The language of education and training is Turkish.
